Up One Bullies: Pocket and Standard American Bully Breeder in Texas

State your name, your kennel, and where your kennel is located.

I’m Ramiro Mendoza, founder of Up One Bullies located in Dallas Texas.

What type of dogs do you breed, and what inspired you to get involved with that particular?

I breed American Bully pockets and standards. The build, the temperament, and overall look of the American Bully made me extremely interested in the breed.

What is your favorite bloodline?

I'd have to say I'm a big Dax fan even though he was a blessing and a curse to the breed.

In your opinion, what are the characteristics of a responsible dog breeder?

A breeder should have great patience. Without patience, mistakes happen.

What type of diet do you keep your dogs on throughout the year?

The dogs are fed kibble in the morning and a raw diet in the afternoon.

How many times a day do you feed your dogs?

Twice a day the dogs are fed. If they are needing to gain weight, they are fed up to four times a day.

How do you keep your dogs in shape throughout the year?

The dogs are kept in shape with free-roam early mornings, 30 minutes of play time every few hours, and show training from 8pm-10pm.

Walk us through the process of purchasing a pup from Up One Bullies from start to finish.

If I’m contacted through Facebook or Instagram, I start with answering any questions the potential buyer may have. Video calls are always welcomed if the buyer is not local.

Do you currently show any of your dogs?

Yes, UpOneBullies has 3 at the moment that I am campaigning: Abck Ch Diesel, Jaws 3, and DEB DonDon.

What advice does Up One Bullies have for any upcoming breeders?

Don't rush your breedings. Take the time to study the pedigrees and match the dogs accordingly.

Remember, patience is key in following your vision, but make sure your vision fits breed standards.

What do you think is the most difficult thing for people in the bully game to overcome?

Taking a loss can be very difficult to overcome in the bully game.

How do you think they can overcome this thing?

When you finally realize that losses come with the game, it'll make them a bit easier to take. You have to mentally prepare yourself. Pray for the best and prepare for the worst.

Who do you look up to in the bully game, and why?

I look up to Shawna Gray and Deyvn Ferraro. Shawna Gray has always been a big help to me and has always encouraged me to reach my full potential. Deyvn Ferraro is an amazing handler; she is one of the best, and I hope to reach her level one day in the show ring.

Tell us about one of Up One Bullies main goals for 2022.

Our main goal in 2022 is getting our last 4 wins for grand champion.

Describe how you would want things, in the bully breed Community, to be 10 years from now.

I want the breed to be more established, have more people following breed standards, and really come and work together as one.

What separates Up One Bullies from the competition?

We aren’t in competition with anyone; we will never see another kennel that way.

What other hobbies or interests do you take part in?

Outside of running the kennel, I love cutting hair.

What do you think of Bully Girl Magazine?

It's amazing what Bully Girl Magazine is doing. You guys are giving the community a platform to network and put our kennels in the eyes of all types of viewers.
