Shady Acre Bullies: American Bully Breeder in Oregon

State your name, your kennel, and where your kennel is located.

We are Kaiti and Andrew Valente, and we own Shady Acre Bullies located in Southern Oregon.

What type of dogs do you breed, and what inspired you to get involved with that particular breed?

We breed American bullies. My husband has loved this breed for a long time, and when we got together, he had just received his first, a dozer. When I met him, I fell in love, and we never looked back.

What is your favorite bloodline?

My favorite bloodlines are Gottiline and Razors Edge.

In your opinion, what are the characteristics of a responsible dog breeder?

  • Someone who loves their dogs.
  • People who aren’t solely in it for the money.
  • Someone who puts their heart into their breedings, and loves their dogs like family.

What type of diet do you keep your dogs on throughout the year?

We feed our dogs with a half and half mix of Nutrisource kibble and raw food .

How many times a day do you feed your dogs?

The dogs get fed twice a day.

How do you keep your dogs in shape throughout the year?

Our dogs love their spring poles and waterfall hikes.

Walk us through the process of purchasing a pup from your kennel from start to finish.

We are small-scaled, so it’s pretty easy. We have a contract requirement with a deposit to lock down the pick. Once the dogs are of age, we will get the required vaccinations. If the purchaser is local or within a reasonable driving distance, we will hand deliver; otherwise we use the services of Lets Fly Flight Nannies to hand deliver.

Do you currently show any of your dogs?

Shady Acre Bullies hasn’t shown any dogs yet, but we’d like to.

What advice do you have for any upcoming breeders?

Things can happen that are out of your control. Things can and will go wrong especially for a first time breeder. Be patient and be prepared.

What do you think is the most difficult thing for people in the bully game to overcome?

There is a lot of competition in the bully breeding world these days, and I think that can be intimidating to some people.

How do you think they can overcome this thing?

Just continue to do it because you love it and love these dogs. The bloodlines will speak for themselves.

Who do you look up to in the bully game, and why?

I look up to Kat from Bossy Kennels. A lot of this world is dominated by men and to watch Kat rise up as one of the most respected breeders in the game is inspiring to me and many other women. Andrew has always looked up to XXL designer because of his delicate care for the dogs, and also the love and education they put out

Tell us about one of your main goals for 2022.

One of our main goals at Shady ACre Bullies is to put our kennel on the map

What separates your kennel from the competition?

We are a family first and foremost. Our dogs, even the ones we don’t keep, are family.

What other hobbies or interests do you take part in?

I am a singer/ songwriter. We love to hike and explore the outdoors with our almost 1-year-old baby boy and our dogs.

What do you think of Bully Girl Magazine?

I love Bully Girl Magazine! I love to see women in the breeding game killing it.
