Maineline Kennels: American Bully Breeder in California

State your name, your kennel, and where your kennel is located.

My name is Jermaine Reynolds. My Kennel is Maineline Kennels, and we are located in Los Angeles, California.

What type of dogs do you breed, and what inspired you to get involved with that particular breed?

I breed Rottweilers and American Bullies. I was inspired to get a Rottweiler when I was in Kindergarten. This guy was walking one as I was walking into school for the day, and I started walking behind him asking him about the dog. He was answering me, but I can tell he was like, kid what are you doing following me. My uncle also had a friend with a Rottweiler named was Rock. Rock was fully trained. Me and my friends were so amazed by him we always said we would get one like him.

As for the American Bullies, I was amazed by the Blue American Bullies. I was so hyped when I saw them, I was again telling my friends I’m going to get me some of those as well. I ended up buying one and let one of my friends keep it, because I did not want to have any mixed breeds. My male Rottweiler was very strong and would bust through the gate to go mate with the ivory fawn female that I purchased.

In your opinion, what are the characteristics of a responsible dog breeder?

A responsible dog breeder is someone that feeds there dogs good food, provides great shelter, cleans up after them and gives them the best care no matter what. Responsible breeders make sure the dogs are in the best of health and give them everything they need, dogs and puppies.

What type of diet do you keep your dogs on throughout the year?

I feed my dogs Victor Lamb, Kirkland Salmon and Sweet Potato, Kirkland Lamb, and Nutra Nugget Lamb.

How many times a day do you feed your dogs?

At Maineline Kennels, our dogs get fed twice a day, and puppies get fed three times a day.

How do you keep your dogs in shape throughout the year?

I walk them, play ball with them and play with them with a Flirt Pole.

Walk us through the process of purchasing a pup from your kennel from start to finish.

  • I talk to the new owner to ask  them if they had a dog before, and of this breed.
  • I tell them about the breed and explain how to socialize them with other dogs and if they have them around other pets to introduce them slowly.
  • Then I tell them the things I feed my dogs and puppies, and what to do when having a new puppy.
  • I show them the mother and father of the puppy.
  • I give them handouts and puppy agreements on what they need to do and what is expected of them. They read it and sign it.
  • They then receive a puppy pack.
  • I sign the paperwork, hand it to them and ask if they have any questions, which I answer and give them my contact info if they don’t have it.
  • I also let them know that if they can’t keep the pet to let me know, and I will find a new suitable home for it.

Do you currently show any of your dogs?

Not right now, but I will be soon.

What advice do you have for any upcoming breeders?

Yes you will have great times and hard times, but stick with it, be dedicated and do the right thing. Stay true and do good business.

What do you think is the most difficult thing for people in the bully game to overcome?

Being lied to and doing bad business.

How do you think they can overcome this thing?

Do great business, network and build great relationships.

Who do you look up to in the bully game, and why?

I look up to the awesome Thicker Than BLOODZ. They helped me a lot on how to be better at everything. I received so much guidance and help to build better, and they even helped me incorporate even greater Bloodlines.

Also, Hot Shot Bulldogs. This guy is so awesome. He teaches you so much about the dog game, what to do and how to do great business. He motivates you daily and keeps you inspired.

Another one would be Utimatebullyz, who taught me right from wrong and gave me key insight on things I needed to succeed.

I can’t forget, Bossykennels, BossyKennelRanch, Ruby BLOODZ now MVP Bullies SoCal, Bunavistabullies and Blu Oval Bullies. These kennels will show you the dynamic ways on how to show your dogs and the best ways to care for them.

Last but not least, Unbreakable Bullies, who  is dynamic in the way he shows his dogs and cares for them. He pulled me to the side and schooled me on what to do and gave so much support.

Tell us about one of your main goals for 2021.

My Maine goals is to produce the best the greatest quality dogs and puppies and to push my Kennel to great heights to do great business
