King Atlas Bullies: XL American Bully Breeder in Florida

King Atlas Bullies: XL American Bully Breeder in Florida

State your name, your kennel, and where your kennel is located.

We are Lamichael and Shannon, of King Atlas Bullies, located in  Ocala, Florida.

What type of dogs do you breed, and what inspired you to get involved with that particular breed?

At King Atlas Bullies, we breed XL American Bully’s. We originally started with the APBT (American Pit Bull Terrier), over 20 years ago. We fell in love with the temperament, structure, and overall appearance of the American Bully breed. We love their drive and loyalty as well.

What is your favorite bloodline?

All bloodlines are unique in their own certain way. We don’t believe one is better than another. It all comes down to genetics, and how they are bred.

In your opinion, what are the characteristics of a responsible dog breeder?

Someone who is going to be loyal, try to better the breed and take pride in their dogs. Finding great homes for their litters should be a priority.. A responsible breeder should always have clean, well kept kennels for their dogs, with plenty of room to run.

What type of diet do you keep your dogs on throughout the year?

We change our dogs' diet throughout the year. We use seasonal vegetables (from our garden): chicken, eggs, coconut oil and kelp as well as other homemade healthy dog treats. All of our dogs get daily vitamins as well. This helps with joints since they are XL’s.

How many times a day do you feed your dogs?

Since we live in Florida, it gets really hot. That changes throughout the year as well, most of the time, twice a day.

How do you keep your dogs in shape throughout the year?

We have a few acres. They are free to run several times a day, weather permitting. We also have a weekly exercise routine. All dogs get walk/runs weekly. We live in horse country, so we have plenty of pastures and dirt roads for them to roam.

Walk us through the process of purchasing a pup from King Atlas Bullies from start to finish.

There is no finish when you have a KAB pup, you become family forever! We take pride in making sure our future families feel welcome and at ease. That is very important to us. We send however many pictures, videos, facetime’s, etc. We also answer as many questions as you have. Whatever it takes for you to pick out your new baby.

We work to match families with the perfect pup, and make sure they’ll have the loving home they deserve. Once we have a match, we send our new family a KAB puppy contract to review and sign. This is always important, so everyone knows what they are responsible for. We highly recommend it for all breeders. If our new family isn’t local, we will coordinate transport. We love updates, and we let all our families know they can send as many updates as they like. We don’t mind at all!

Do you currently show any of your dogs?

We do have a few show-trained dogs. Due to covid-19, we are not showing them at the moment.

What advice does King Atlas Bullies have for any upcoming breeders?

Do not become a breeder if you just want the money. You will not be bettering the breed. Be responsible, and do your research on the pedigrees of the dogs you are breeding. It isn’t just about how two dogs look together. Check their pedigree to make sure you are producing healthy dogs, with good temperament.

What do you think is the most difficult thing for people in the bully game to overcome?

The negative stereotype of the APBT and  American Bully breed.

How do you think they can overcome this thing?

By taking your trained dogs out in public and proving them wrong , one person at a time. The more they see their amazing temperament,  they’ll fall in love with them too!

Who do you look up to in the bully game, and why?

We have to give credit to Camelot Pits, Iron Cross, RBG, Razoredge and Gottiline for starting it all off for us. If it wasn’t for them, half the American Bully breed wouldn’t be here. They don’t get enough credit!

Tell us about one of King Atlas Bullies main goals for the year 2020.

We would like to finish our puppy/dog facility before the end of 2020.

Describe how you would want things, in the bully breed Community, to be 10 years from now.

I’d like to see a closer bully community, where established kennels help upcoming kennels become successful.

What separates King Atlas Bullies from the competition?

We take pride in being an open book to our new families. We have always believed in quality over quantity. At King Atlas Bullies, we don’t sell dogs. We find amazing families for our beautiful blessings.

What other hobbies or interests do you take part in?

We also own King Atlas Landscaping. That keeps us pretty busy, when we don’t have litters. Being retired military, we like to attend local military events.

What do you think of Bully Girl Magazine?

We love that Bully Girl Magazine keeps the Bully Community informed and up to date. We like learning about new breeders being able to network.

2 years ago I was blessed by KAB with King Leonidas. Shannon and I have been friends for 20 years. My youngest daughter suffers from anxiety and depression and we knew we needed a companion for her. Shannon was able to pair me with the perfect companion for my daughter based on temperament, the rhythm of our home, our daily routines and our personalities. King has been a blessing in all areas of our lives and has made such impacting change in my child. I couldn’t ever see our lives without him. He’s a gentle giant full of love who likes do dance with us in the kitchen occasionally and loves to keep us company on car rides. Again KAB has been a blessing to us and I strongly recommend them to anyone.
