Hey Hey Hey! My name is Yasmin Omar from Jungle Bully Kennels, straight outta Southern California. 

What type of dogs do you breed, and what inspired you to get involved with that particular breed?

We are breeding XL American Bullies, and we were inspired by the love we have for the breed. Our motivation is purely reliant on our goal to change the perception of this breed and to make a change.  Jungle Bully Kennels would like the world to be a better place for our favorite breed. 

What is your favorite bloodline?

Looking at all of the bloodlines that got us here, we have to go with Old School Gottiline. Gottiline is the definition of an American Bully. To me, I feel like they Gottiline has everything: mass, headpiece, chest, and most importantly they have good temperaments. For us, the temperament of the dog is the number one thing we look for. 

In your opinion, what are the characteristics of a responsible dog breeder?

The most important characteristics I believe a responsible dog breeder should possess are transparency, integrity, and kindness. When people have good morals, I believe it shows that they can be trusted in all aspects. 

A responsible breeder should have no problem communicating with clients, answering questions, or keeping their clients up to date with their puppy pictures. Responsible breeders see this as a lifestyle rather than a hobby, and know that every little thing matters. This entire business is a responsibility, so organization, good habits, and great multitasking skills are the key to success. 

What type of diet do you keep your dogs on throughout the year?

Currently, our kiddos are puppies, so we want to make sure they are receiving all of the nutrients their bodies need. For this reason, we feed our two Bullies Victor Hi-Pro Plus, and as soon as they turn one they will begin a raw diet. 

Our Frenchie is on a special diet that was made by a nutritionist, to help with her allergies. We have to cook her food once every week, it contains ground turkey, cauliflower, carrots, broccoli, green beans, peas, black/pinto beans, and spinach. On the side, we were instructed to give her one tablespoon of Non-fat Greek Yogurt and 2 tablespoons of white jasmine rice. 

How many times a day do you feed your dogs?

We feed all three of our dogs twice a day at set times to make sure their schedule remains on point!

How do you keep your dogs in shape throughout the year?

We like to keep our dogs as active as possible, whether it's taking them on walks, hikes or simply playing fetch with them outside. Our favorite activity is taking them on walks, because we get to connect with them in a more personal way. Being that we now have three dogs it’s hard to give each dog quality time, hence why walking them individually is our favorite. Another thing we do, is to have the dogs play with a flirt pole, and all of our dogs would claim it to be their favorite toy if they could talk lol. 

Walk us through the process of purchasing a pup from Jungle Bully Kennels from start to finish.

• When purchasing a puppy from Jungle Bully Kennels clients experience a hassle-free consultation that simply allows us to know what the new environment for the puppy would be like, and more importantly the background of who they will be going to. We believe it is our job to make sure that none of our puppies end up in a pound or are euthanized because they weren’t given to the right owner. 
• After conducting the interview, we will then go over the puppy contract via DocuSign to cover all of the information that keeps us responsible for the puppy’s health and keeps the client responsible for taking care of the puppy. 
• We allow clients to make deposits on the breedings once everything is set in stone. 
• Once the puppies are born, we will send weekly updates to the clients so they can confirm their pick before 6 weeks of age. After the 6-week mark, everyone has selected their pick and can start preparing their home for their new Jungle Bully. 

Does Jungle Bully Kennels currently show any of your dogs?

We have not shown any of our pups yet, but we want to show Nike eventually. Having a champion in our program is a goal of ours. If not Nike, having any of our own productions become a champion would be amazing. 

What advice does Jungle Bully Kennels have for any upcoming breeders?

This is a good question because I am an upcoming breeder, but something Austin and I take pride in is that we aren’t afraid to share our journey and what we learn. We have our own YouTube Channel. Make sure to subscribe to stay in the loop @junglebullykennels! 

However, if I were speaking to someone that is just getting their feet wet, I’d tell them to find mentors. By mentors, I mean people they can go to with their questions. I believe having a mentor is essential in any industry. I would also tell them to not be afraid to ask questions or mess up, because they can always learn from their mistakes. The important thing to keep in mind is not to repeat the mistake. 

What do you think is the most difficult thing for people in the bully game to overcome?

I believe the hardest thing to overcome in this industry is a failure. Everything isn’t always going to be easy and you’re going to go through a lot of ups and downs. Some people can’t accept the loss, so they jeopardize their longevity.

How do you think they can overcome this thing?

I believe they can overcome this by being prepared and continuously willing to learn. You have to know before taking on this big responsibility, that things can and will go wrong. Being at peace with that from the beginning is the key to having long-term success!

Who do you look up to in the bully game, and why?

I look up to Kathryn from Bossy Kennels. The reason for that is she is a strong/independent business woman. To know that a mentor of mine, is the top tier breeder in the game, is extremely humbling. She has the qualities we strive for at Jungle Bully Kennels. 

One of those qualities is being trustworthy. Kat is extremely transparent and reliable. That is everything you could ever ask for, from not only a breeder but from any individual you interact with.

Tell us about one of Jungle Bully Kennels main goals for 2021.

My main goal for 2021 is to master ‘discipline’. I feel like people can easily fall out of their good habits and become lazy and ultimately procrastinate. With discipline, I can conquer anything I put my mind to. “Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishments,” - Jim Rohn. I feel like with discipline on your side you can stay on track with any goal you set for yourself. 

Describe how you would want things, in the bully breed community, to be 10 years from now.

I would love to see people acting transparently and ethical in anything that they do. It really should be that simple. I am tired of hearing and or dealing with shady business. We are supposed to be bettering the breed, not doing anything for a quick buck. 

What separates Jungle Bully Kennels from the competition?

I believe what separates our kennel from our competition is that our brand is focused on accomplishing something greater than producing American bullies. We are going to change the perception that the world has of this beautiful breed with our content.

What other hobbies or interests do you take part in?

I am a full-time student at CSULA, and honestly, it’s hard to find time to do any hobbies. However, I love playing tennis, going hiking, thrifting vintage home decor (specifically art deco style), and anything creative. 

What do you think of Bully Girl Magazine?

I love everything about Bully Girl Magazine in all honesty. I love that women in this industry are getting recognition. I believe there isn’t enough of that. They’re mainly behind the scenes, which is why I look up to Kathryn. Kathryn started from the bottom and still doesn’t get enough credit. 

Bully Girl Magazine is going to be a big game-changer in the next years to come, because women like myself will be able to look back and show their appreciation.
