Dellas XL Bullies: XL American Bully Breeder in England

Dellas XL Bullies: XL American Bully Breeder in New England

State your name, your kennel, and where your kennel is located.

My name is Michael Newsome, and my kennel is Dellas XL Bullies. We are located in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, in England.

What type of dogs do you breed, and what inspired you to get involved with that particular breed?

I breed American XL bullies. I’ve always loved them since I first laid eyes on them. It inspired me to buy my own dog, Storm. She is an excellent example of an American bully. She has a great structure, lovely height, and carries it well.

What is your favorite bloodline?

I would say that Bossy Kennels is my favorite bloodline. I'm in love with chocolate dogs, tri’s, chocolate merles, everything chocolate is just Dellas XL Bullies!

In your opinion, what are the characteristics of a responsible dog breeder?

Characteristics of a responsible dog breeder are someone who doesn’t breed excessively, allows their females to fully mature, and would only entertain a dog who is fully health checked.

What type of diet do you keep your dogs on throughout the year?

My dogs are all fed on raw food, kibble, fish, and the odd socks and underpants.

How many times a day do you feed your dogs?

I feed the dogs twice daily and keep them in shape through long walks and sprints.

How do you keep your dogs in shape throughout the year?

In addition to the walks, they love to go swimming, and it’s a great form of exercise.

Walk us through the process of purchasing a pup from Dellas XL Bullies from start to finish.

Buying a puppy from us starts with advertising on my social media.

  • I advertise my litter and wait for people to message to let me know they're interested.
  • We discuss your questions and whether a pup is right for you.
  • I will ask for a deposit to secure your puppy. Then, you can come up to see your puppy and have daily updates and photos/videos sent to you.
  • You can take your new puppy home after it is older than eight weeks.

Does Dellas XL Bullies currently show any of your dogs?

I currently show both of my pups. My female Versace took 1st place at UKBKC in the 2-6 month category, and my male Payday took 1st place twice at ABKC in the 3-6 month category.

What advice does Dellas XL Bullies have for any upcoming breeders?

I have some advice for upcoming breeders: make sure you're in it for the long run and not a get-rich-quick scheme. Do some research into what you're buying.

What do you think is the most difficult thing for people in the bully game to overcome?

Currently, it’s saturated with pup back deals, and if we don’t stop that, the game won’t be here much longer as there’s no value if people aren’t investing in all aspects of breeding. People will sell their puppies for 1k as they haven’t invested into the stud.

How do you think they can overcome this problem?

One of the things people need to overcome is only letting people who have paid their stud fee use your dog.

Tell us about one of Dellas XL Bullies main goals for 2022.

My main goals for 2022 would be to move to a bigger house so I can own more dogs and build bigger facilities. I would love to have my litter create more amazing pups and ship some over to America.

Describe how you would want things, in the bully breed Community, to be 10 years from now.

In 10 years from now, I hope the bully community is as lovely as it has been for the last few years. People say the market seems to be watered down, but I believe there are still great things yet to be seen from this breed; it’s just the beginning.

I don’t see people as competition. I hope to be successful in doing my own thing.

What other hobbies or interests do you take part in?

In addition to the bullies, I like to go to the gym daily, walk, socialize with my mates, and spend time with my family.

What do you think of Bully Girl Magazine?

Bully Girl Magazine is a great platform. I think more things like this should try to show different perspectives of the breed. Thank you for taking your time to interview us, it’s greatly appreciated, and I hope to be doing more work with like-minded people in the future.
