Caribbean Bred Bullies: Exotic Bully, American Bully and Frenchie Breeder

State your name, your kennel, and where your kennel is located.

My name is Jamaica Torres and my kennel is Caribbean Bred Bullies. Our headquarters is located in Miami and NYC, but we have 5 more east coast camps and one in Germany as well as Qatar.

What type of dogs do you breed, and what inspired you to get involved with that particular breed?

We breed Exotic (micro and nano), American Bullies, Frenchies and some exotic animals also.

What is your favorite bloodline?

OG Miagi but these days my true favorite is Imported Bullies. I love many of their bulls.

In your opinion, what are the characteristics of a responsible dog breeder?

A breeder is responsible for their productions life and safety from birth to sale to possible recovery. Breeders should provide healthy/adequate living environments and treat their bulls as if they were children that need love, respect, proper feeding and healthcare.

What type of diet do you keep your dogs on throughout the year?

We keep our dogs on a raw diet with high end kibble mix.

Are there any specific brands of dog food that you recommend?

DiamondPro89 is one of my favorites, as well as Taste Of The Wild and a few Merrick products. It depends on which of my bulls, some have different health and skin requirements.

How many times a day do you feed your dogs?

Twice daily feedings. First being with raw & kibble mix, second being solely kibble.

How do you keep your dogs in shape throughout the year?

We keep our dogs in shape throughout the year by exercise in the yard and nearby beaches, ring practice at shows and stacking and ring practice at home.

Walk us through the process of purchasing a pup from Caribbean Bred Bullies from start to finish.

  • After contact and interest is shown, I immediately check all social media and any way of verifying the client and home the pup may end up in.
  • If everything appears to be adequate, we discuss all information the client may need, give them a deep history on our family, kennel and what they can expect from our team/family.
  • Next, we discuss the contract and all expectations and timelines.
  • Once a deposit is made, we begin to discuss transport options. We prefer to deliver our own pups to prevent any negligence to the pup or client, but also allow pickup.
  • If the client wants to hire a transportation company it must be one we approve of or we will require pickup.
  • After the pup is paid in full, we make sure the pup and new family are welcomed to our CBB family and are completely satisfied with their new family member. They are also offered the chance to become part of CBB kennel team and be part of the business or remain as a pet owner and still gain any necessary knowledge.

Do you currently show any of your dogs?

Yes, we currently show our micro and nano line and our CH. Lucky Luciano son “Anubis” will be making his debut soon.

What advice does Caribbean Bred Bullies have for any upcoming breeders?

Be sure to put in the grueling hours of research and hard work. Gain all the knowledge you can from OG breeders and the new breeders leading the pack but still doing positive business. Remember, the bulls create everything. Respect that it’s them that earn every penny and we as breeders and owners are just the people who help make it happen. Respect your clients and the money they invest in you and your product. Most of all stay humble and treat everyone with the respect you deserve.

What do you think is the most difficult thing for people in the bully game to overcome?

I think the most difficult thing for people in the bully game to overcome would be fear and greed.

How do you think they can overcome this thing?

Remember everything in life starts with fear. We are scared to learn to walk but end up running eventually, so stick with your dream and vision. Also, remember what fueled your passion and don’t let money cloud your judgment because people will only pay you what they believe you are worth.

Tell us about one of Caribbean Bred Bullies main goals for 2022.

I will host the largest indoor bully breed show the tri-state has ever seen, while elevating the bully community and helping some families in need. I will continue to judge shows for others in the community, while hosting shows with other kennels around the country and produce some amazing bulls. We also have something special brewing but we can’t release that info just yet, stay tuned!

Describe how you would want things, in the bully breed Community, to be 10 years from now.

In ten years from now I would like to see a community where we are proud of our productions but also respectful of others. A place where we unite for our passion rather than let competition separate us like most things in life already do. Also, I would like to see our breeds respected. If clients spend the amounts of money they do on our breeds, then they should be respected. We produce some of the most valued dogs in the world as a community and that is an accomplishment!

What separates Caribbean Bred Bullies from the competition?

25 years of experience, grind, hustle, failure and determination. I am only different because of my choices in life, and my choice to never give up has always led me to where I was meant to be. I’m still holding my own.

What other hobbies or interests do you take part in?

I love my wife and my children. I have two amazing daughters and was recently blessed with a son and they rule my world. I have a heavy passion for motorcycle’s and photography which I tie into my kennel with my own modeling team. I love helping others, so we do as much community service through our programs as we can. I also love to cook, you may see a menu from me in the future.

What do you think of Bully Girl Magazine?

BGM is a reputable and respected piece of history. It has been here representing some of the best breeders and bulls in the game from all around the world for a while now. I have watched some good friends grace the pages and now to be able to be part of those people is an amazing feeling. Thank you BGM for this honor and blessing.
