Beauty and the Beast Fashion Kennel: Pocket and Micro American Bully Breeder in Florida

State your name, your kennel, and where your kennel is located.

The name of our kennel is Beauty and the Beast Fashion Kennel. We are currently located in Melbourne, Florida.

What type of dogs do you breed, and what inspired you to get involved with that particular breed?

Currently we own American Bullies, which includes pockets and micros. We are also getting into French bulldogs. We own one now, and have plans to add more soon. Since both of us have always been dog lovers, we gravitated towards the breeds that were more “frowned upon” like Pit Bulls. We became more interested in American Bully’s. They still have that temperament of a Pit Bull, but we fell in love with their structure as well.

What is your favorite bloodline?

This is a hard question because we like so many bloodlines for different reasons. Some of our favorite kennels and bloodlines include Aftermath Kennel, Prizebull, Muscletone, Venomline, and The Bully Campline.

In your opinion, what are the characteristics of a responsible dog breeder?

It's important to us that the dogs are part of the family. To us a responsible breeder has that same mindset. The dogs should be in the house, up on the couch and not stuck in cages. Proper care including regular vet checks, proper diet and exercise as well as testing prior to breeding is also important. \\

We believe in breeding in good lines, health, structure, and temperament. There's a lot of breeders out there who want to use a well known stud for that reason, or for color but aren’t doing their research. We think it's important to focus on the selection of studs for each breeding.

What type of diet do you keep your dogs on throughout the year?

Our dogs are on a mixture of Victor and Taste of the Wild with raw meat, fresh vegetables and fruit.

How many times a day do you feed your dogs?

The puppies eat three times a day and the adults eat twice.

How do you keep your dogs in shape throughout the year?

We do various things to keep all the dogs in shape. We do regular walks, run them on the treadmill when weather doesn’t permit it outside and sled pulling. It is also important to tire their minds with obedience training.

Walk us through the process of purchasing a pup from Beauty and the Beast Fashion Kennel from start to finish.

In order to purchase a puppy from us, you could contact us on our social media to let us know you are interested in an advertised upcoming breeding or litter that is available. 

• You would place your deposit and receive a contract. 
• Once the puppies are 6 weeks old, then new owners are able to make their pick on which pup they would like, according to the order we receive the deposits. 
• Once the puppies are 8-10 weeks of age, the puppy will be transported to its new home with its first set of vaccines, health certificate, and worming completed.

Do you currently show any of your dogs?

Currently we do not show our dogs, but all are getting prepared to participate in shows. There are shows in the fall we plan on attending.

What advice does Beauty and the Beast Fashion Kennel have for any upcoming breeders?

Make it make sense. Your puppy selection, breedings, which stud you pick, etc. Breed your dog to the right dog for the right reason, and do your research. Always be prepared, this game is not easy or cheap. You're going to have to put in the work, and if you don’t have the right mindset, intentions and aren’t prepared for the unexpected, then it's hard to be as successful.

What do you think is the most difficult thing for people in the bully game to overcome?

Keeping up with the trends. We see people changing their whole programs or plans based on what others are doing.

How do you think they can overcome this problem?

Honestly, by taking risks and experimenting. Stay ahead of the trends by doing your own thing. Do what you like and stop trying to keep up with what everyone else is doing.

Who do you look up to in the bully game, and why?

In the bully game we look up to no one, but have respect for everyone before us or those who have helped us along the way. With our mind frame it's hard to look up to anyone, when we are trying to do our own thing.

Tell us about one of Beauty and the Beast Fashion Kennel main goals for 2021.

For 2021, our goal is to stock up our arsenal and let our dogs mature. In 2022, we are coming out firing with all the planned breedings we have.

Describe how you would want things, in the bully breed Community, to be 10 years from now.

In 10 years we hope the bully game is more supportive and helpful to each other. We hope to see more responsible breeders. We also hope things are more consistent with the bully shows, registration and the breed standards.

What separates Beauty and the Beast Fashion Kennel from the competition?

First and foremost, our breeding selection is top priority. We like to make our dogs stand out as much as they can, and really showcase each and every one of them. That’s where the fashion part comes in. We make the beauty come out of the dogs by showing them off with fashion and unique looks.

What other hobbies or interests do you take part in?

Our free time is dedicated to our kids, including the fur kids. We are always outside being active, whether it's going on trail walks with the dogs or hitting the beach.
