Beartooth Bullies | XL American Bully Breeder in North Carolina

State your name, your kennel, and where your kennel is located.

Hello, my name is Benjamin Camarena, with Beartooth Bullies out of Charlotte, NC.

What type of dogs do you breed, and what inspired you to get involved with that particular breed?

We breed XL American Bullies. This has always been my favorite breed. I hate how the American Bully has had a bad reputation in the past. I want to change the face of how they are looked at and perceived.

What is your favorite bloodline?

I don’t have one specific bloodline that is my favorite. I look at many different bloodlines, and currently am trying to make a name for my own!

In your opinion, what are the characteristics of a responsible dog breeder?

A responsible dog breeder should have a love for the breed and dogs in general. Responsible breeders care for the well being of their pets/family members, and are not just after money. Intelligence on the breed is a major plus. Responsible breeders know what to do to make sure their pups are the healthiest and as well tempered as possible.

What type of diet do you keep your dogs on throughout the year?

My dogs mainly eat a raw diet that consists of ground beef, chicken gizzards (heart/livers), eggs or chicken wings, carrots, broccoli, sauerkraut, blueberries or oranges, cinnamon and turmeric. I also mix in some Dyne and other nutritional supplements during the evening. Bully max is my go to when I run out of raw food.

How many times a day do you feed your dogs?

I feed my pups twice a day. Sometimes they act like it’s not enough, lol.

How do you keep your dogs in shape throughout the year?

I give my dogs plenty of yard time to run around and play, but I also take them on hikes/walks multiple times a week. Soon I will start running them and eventually get weight pulls for them.

Walk us through the process of purchasing a pup from Beartooth Bullies from start to finish.

If someone is interested in buying a pup from us it will be the end of 2021. We are super excited to see what we produce.

You can contact us via text or email, which you can find on our Instagram page: @beartoothbullies.

We can discuss what you are looking for, and then a contract will be sent for signing. Once that is complete, a down payment will be sent. When the pup is ready, it can be shipped or picked up according to the new owners discretion.

Do you currently show any of your dogs?

I do not currently show my pups, however I most definitely will when they reach the right age!

What advice does Beartooth Bullies have for any upcoming breeders?

Anyone who is an upcoming breeder, I suggest you put a lot of time into studying the details of what it takes. No one is perfect. A lot of trials and testing new things is going to happen, but it’s always great to be prepared for as much as possible.

What do you think is the most difficult thing for people in the bully game to overcome?

I think the most difficult thing to overcome for people, is just the stigma that we get from other people. Most are quick to judge, without even having knowledge of what they judge.

How do you think they can overcome this thing?

If we all just work hard to truly put in effort and care for our kennels, then we can all make a good name for the bully breed, and show the world how great they are.

Who do you look up to in the bully game, and why?

I look up to Monster Bully Kennel. I received a beautiful Morpheus pup which I flew out to pick up. Ryan was phenomenal and taught me a lot of what I need to know. He had great customer service and all of his animals were treated great! You could tell he cared about his craft, and he is definitely someone I look up to.

I also appreciate AktiveEnergy K9, who is very knowledgeable about the breed and is open to educating those who show they are willing to learn. I will be getting a female from both of them soon!

Tell us about one of Beartooth Bullies main goals for 2021.

My main goal for 2021 is to grow my two boys into game changing studs. These guys will be extremely healthy and fit. I want to win many shows with them around the country.

Describe how you would want things, in the bully breed Community, to be 10 years from now.

Ten years from now I want the bully breed to be a house name, with my kennel as one of the best in the world. These dogs will be the most athletic and well structured bullies, with size and color that will catch anyone’s eye! Their temperament will not be questioned, and their intelligence will match those of the German Shepherd and Retrievers.

What separates Beartooth Bullies from the competition?

My kennel is separated from others, because we strive to create the perfect all around XL American bully. I truly care about what we are going to produce here, and will do whatever it takes to make sure my pups are the healthiest and most well trained out there.

I have constantly been working with my two males to insure their health and intelligence is top tier. We are on the path to greatness. I take the best from every kennel I can find, to make the perfect bloodlines.

What other hobbies or interests do you take part in?

I thoroughly enjoy working out and keeping myself healthy, as well as my pups. This keeps me happy and on the right track with my dogs. I practice what I preach, so this is just a lifestyle I love to live.

What do you think of Bully Girl Magazine?

Bully Girl Magazine is an amazing publication to follow and keep up with! I love the content, and it keeps me interested in what others are doing out there. Bully Girl is a great educational resource as well!
