Vasconcellos Bully Breed Kennels: American Bully Breeder in Florida

State your name, your kennel, and where your kennel is located.

My name is Kristie Vasconcellos, and I am the co-owner of Vasconcellos Bully Breed Kennels (VBB Kennels). VBB Kennels is a small family-operated kennel run by me, my husband, and three of our children. We are a reasonably new kennel located in Jacksonville, Florida.

What type of dogs do you breed, and what inspired you to get involved with that particular breed?

Currently, we only breed American Bullies. We have always owned an American Pitbull Terrier. After the passing of our last one, we decided to get a female American Bully, and she has made us quickly fall in love with the breed. We now have two grown females, (VBBs' Lola) and (Crumps Bullies Xala).

What is your favorite bloodline?

My favorite bloodline has been Gottiline, specifically Gottilines' Dax blood. We have recently added "EBI's" "The Joker" of Crumps' Bullies blood to add various colors and promote larger extreme bullies.

In your opinion, what are the characteristics of a responsible dog breeder?

In my opinion, a responsible dog breeder does everything they can to maintain the health of their dogs. They invest in their dogs and do not breed for greed. A responsible dog breeder should always keep a manageable number of dogs receiving proper nutrition and health care.

What type of diet do you keep your dogs on throughout the year?

At VBB Kennels, we feed a mix of Diamond puppy kibble and raw foods. The raw varies, constantly changing the meats, vegetables, and fruits regularly. We add supplements for joint support and digestive health as well.

How many times a day do you feed your dogs?

The current schedule we keep for the feedings of our dogs is twice per day. We typically feed around 9 am and again around 2 pm. This diet seems to work well for our dogs but could change. We are always learning and adapting as we grow.

How do you keep your dogs in shape throughout the year?

Our dogs have a big yard to play in and constantly exercise independently. We incorporate flirt-pole work and spring-pole work and just hand walking regularly on the days that are not too hot.

Walk us through the process of purchasing a pup from Vasconcellos Bully Breed Kennels from start to finish.

Purchasing a pup through us is a simple process.

  • Once you select the puppy you’d like, we send a puppy contract.
  • You must sign and return the contract with the deposit for your puppy.
  • We accept PayPal, Cashapp, and bank transfers for deposits and final payment.
  • You will be updated regularly with new pics of your puppy until the time of pick up or delivery.
  • All pups will have ABKC papers and health certificates before the puppy leaves our facility.

Do you currently show any of your dogs?

We have not shown any of our dogs yet. However, we would like to get into it this coming year.

What advice does Vasconcellos Bully Breed Kennels have for any upcoming breeders?

The best advice I could give to a new breeder would be to have a vision and know your worth. No matter what you choose to do, there is always someone doing it cheaper. You should invest your time and money to have an excellent breeding business and promote the breeds’ greater good.

What do you think is the most difficult thing for people in the bully game to overcome?

So far, our experience has been enjoyable. Many people in the bully community have offered help and advice with no money involved. However, you will get people who want to negotiate a price and could even do it in a less than respectful manner.

How do you think they can overcome this thing?

There are always people that want to negotiate on everything they buy. Know the value of your product and stand behind that value. Do not lower your price just because someone does not see the value.

Who do you look up to in the bully game, and why?

Right now, the kennels we look up to are Exclusive Bully Incorporated and Crumps Bullies, as they have helped us since day one. I would also say the DGF bully program since they have always offered help and advice.

Tell us about one of Vasconcellos Bully Breed Kennels main goals for 2022.

In 2022, we will have our own stud produced at our kennel (VBB's IceBurg Slim). We would like to put some pups on the ground off of him.

Describe how you would want things, in the bully breed Community, to be 10 years from now.

I would like to see the bully breed community continue to grow and keep adapting to better the breed.

What separates Vasconcellos Bully Breed Kennels from the competition?

What separates us from most of the competition is our desire to do great business and build lifelong relationships.

What other hobbies or interests do you take part in?

Our family is a Jiu-Jitsu family, and we train and compete regularly. We also spend a lot of time outside, either in the woods or at the beach.

What do you think of Bully Girl Magazine?

Bully Girl Magazine is amazing! We are always so excited when we get a share from them and now an interview.

I meet a guy last week that purchased a bully pup from you all and provided me with the information. I’m really interested in purchasing a standard bully puppy.

When are you breeding your next litter? I would love one!!
