Ultra Instinct Bullies: Pocket and Standard American Bully Breeder in Georgia

State your name, your kennel, and where your kennel is located

My name is Edwin Espindola, I am the owner of Ultra Instinct Bullies, and we are located in southwest Georgia.

What type of dogs do you breed, and what inspired you to get involved with that particular breed?

I breed pocket and standard American Bullies. Ever since I was a child, I've always loved to observe large and stocky animals. The American Bully is a breed that definitely sticks out compared to other breeds when it comes to the large amount of muscle mass it carries.

What is your favorite bloodline?

My yard is heavy with GrCh Rockomania blood, but honestly, my favorite bloodline would be the Dax line. All of my favorite lines lead back to Dax having a roll in their pedigree.

In your opinion, what are the characteristics of a responsible dog breeder?

In my eyes a responsible dog breeder should be one who isn't going to hesitate to provide for their dogs’ needs, someone who would rather see their productions go to a good home instead of making a few extra bucks, and someone who respects their dogs.

What type of diet do you keep your dogs on throughout the year?

As of right now I have my dogs on Victor Hi-Pro Plus or Victor Hi-Energy. Eventually I would like the majority of them to be on a raw diet.

How many times a day do you feed your dogs?

I feed the adults once in the afternoon and the puppies twice a day.

How do you keep your dogs in shape throughout the year?

I let my dogs out in groups in a fenced area, and that seems to do very good for them.

Walk us through the process of purchasing a pup from Ultra Instinct Bullies from start to finish.

Here’s what the process looks like when you purchase a pup from Ultra Instrict Bullies:

  1. When purchasing a puppy, I will ask a few basic questions such as, are you looking for a male or female, what class, what bloodline, etc.
  2. I'll send available media of potential puppies and heavily encourage a video chat.
  3. A contract will be sent over to be signed and returned, and pricing will be discussed.

Do you currently show any of your dogs?

At the moment we're taking a brief break from showing. We were previously showing UIB Kane, however, he probably has the world's fastest metabolism, so we're giving him time to mature before stepping back into the ring. I have a few young prospects who will be entering the ring in 2022 if all goes as planned.

What advice does Ultra Instinct Bullies have for any upcoming breeders?

Do your research and don't be so impulsive when purchasing your first bully. Just because it's expensive doesn't mean it's good quality and just because it's cheap doesn't mean it's a deal. Genetics play a huge role in how a dog will develop and it's up to you to bring out your dog's full potential. Remember, if the dog doesn't have the potential already there, then majority of the time, even with the right care, the dog will not develop how you envision it to be.

What do you think is the most difficult thing for people in the bully game to overcome?

In my opinion, kennel blindness and humbleness is the hardest thing to overcome in this game..

How do you think they can overcome this thing?

I think it's an easy fix. People need to keep an open mind.  Most of kennel blindness comes from people's mentality of “it's theirs, it's great, and worth using into a program”.

Who do you look up to in the bully game, and why?

I think the number one person I look up to in the bully game right now is Arthur Lassiter from Solid Ground Bullyz. He's an honest and humble man. Shamrock is one of the most successful studs and Arthur did not let that change him from being a nice individual. If we had more people like him in the community, this breed would be on a whole different level.

Tell us about one of Ultra Instinct Bullies main goals for 2022.

For 2022, I hope to finally have my indoor facility setup. I'll be able to better care for my dogs and customers such as progesterone testing, boarding females to breed to my studs, and doing AI's for other individuals. Once the facility is built I would like to venture into French Bulldogs or XL American Bullies. I also hope to see that UIB Baki Hanma gets more recognition in 2022, and I hope to see one of his offspring perform excellently in the ring.

Describe how you would want things, in the bully breed Community, to be 10 years from now?

I hope that people start to realize that being a breeder is not easy. I'm not saying that I don't want others to breed, but this trend of buying pet-home-style puppies and then creating more to sell to upcoming breeders needs to stop. I hope that the breed becomes much more consistent, the pet-home market increases, and people's understanding of this breed increases as well because if not, this breed will end up like the pitbull.

What separates Ultra Instinct Bullies from the competition?

It's our customer service. With almost every customer, I'm willing to pay half of the shipping fee or meet halfway for them to save a little bit of money. Customer service doesn't just stop there, I make sure my clients understand that if they need help with a production or have any questions they can contact me anytime. If I can't help them, I will do what I can to find someone who can help them or answer their question. I've seen other kennels where their customer service ends once they've received the money and have delivered the product, and personally I don't believe that is right.

What other hobbies or interests do you take part in?

For the last five years, weight training has had a huge involvement in my life. Although, with Ultra Instinct Bullies growing, I've had to take a step back from the gym this year. Once my facility is built, I plan to add a weight section into it so I can train at home. I'll probably check on puppies and their mom in between sets.

What do you think of Bully Girl Magazine?

I think Bully Girl Magazine is an amazing company. I think that it brings positivity that the community needs. I hope to see BGM grow exponentially in 2022.
