Ultimate Bullyz: American and Extreme Exotic Bully Breeder in California

State your name, your kennel, and where your kennel is located.

My name is Robert Bernardo with Ultimate Bullyz, located in San Diego, California.

What type of dogs do you breed, and what inspired you to get involved with that particular breed?

I breed American Bully’s and Extreme Exotics. I do have frenchies and Bulldogs with investors as well.

What is your favorite bloodline?

Hmmm. I love Roach blood, if I had to choose one blood that falls under that Miagi fire.

In your opinion, what are the characteristics of a responsible dog breeder?

Responsible breeders are in it to better the breed, period.

What type of diet do you keep your dogs on throughout the year?

I’m very simple with diets.  I feed straight Purina Pro Sport, that’s it. I also use coconut and fish oils.

How many times a day do you feed your dogs?

Once a day. It’s all genetics.

How do you keep your dogs in shape throughout the year?

My dogs are very enclosed, with a timed water misting system, if needed.

Walk us through the process of purchasing a pup from your kennel from start to finish.

  • First we talk, and I ask what’s your ultimate look in a dog?
  • I then review their IG, and we speak many times.
  • If they like what they see we make it all happen.
  • Money doesn’t always get you one of my pups. I want families and pure dog lovers that will promote the brand and provide a good quality of life for the dog.

Do you currently show any of your dogs?

I show off and support all shows no matter what.

What advice do you have for any upcoming breeders?

Have fun. Do your research and don't believe any pictures, because 90 percent of them are photoshopped. Ask for videos, and ask for referrals.

What do you think is the most difficult thing for people in the bully game to overcome?

To not believe everything they hear or see on the internet. Have fun, love what you do and make it happen. We are our own hype.

How do you think they can overcome this thing?

Be very patient and do lots of research.

Who do you look up to in the bully game, and why?

John Niar in Sacramento, of Bahalna bully’s. I met John in 2001. His family stayed over. He knew my vision, and saw my passion. Many years later he called and said “Rob I have the perfect dog for you. He sold me Game.

Tell us about one of your main goals for 2021.

Just doing the same, pushing, promoting and sending positive vibes. The dogs will come once they all catch. There’s no race to the finish line.

Describe how you would want things, in the bully breed Community, to be 10 years from now.

Just to be real with a pure heart. There’s room for us all.

What separates your kennel from the competition?

I breed for me and only me. If you like my vision boom. I dare to be different. Many breeders breed for the people. I don’t believe in that.

What other hobbies or interests do you take part in?

I’m a straight up family man. My dogs are my therapy.

What do you think of Bully Girl Magazine?

Bully Girl Magazine is doing major things for the dog community. We need this!
