Moreno Dudley Kennel: Micro American Bully Breeder in Florida

State your name, your kennel, and where your kennel is located.

Our names are Jerome Dudley and Victoria Moreno, and we own Moreno Dudley Kennel (MDK) located in West Palm Beach, Florida.

What type of dogs do you breed, and what inspired you to get involved with that particular breed?

We breed Micro American bullies. I’ve really grown an interest in that particular breed and class because you can bring them anywhere, they’re very well tempered, and they’re very family oriented. What I love the most are their big features housed in a compact frame. They are the ideal breed of dog in my eyes.

What is your favorite bloodline?

We entered the bully game with Miagi, but we’ve seen so many bloodlines that grab our attention. It can be hard to have a favorite because each one has their own unique look.

In your opinion, what are the characteristics of a responsible dog breeder?

Honestly, being a breeder is a lifestyle. The responsibilities are endless, but most importantly, a responsible dog breeder is very knowledgeable and should know the ins and outs of the breed.

What type of diet do you keep your dogs on throughout the year?

Our bulls have a well balanced diet throughout the year. It mostly consists of raw food from our local supermarket. We also feed them kibble (Diamond Hi-Energy).

How many times a day do you feed your dogs?

The adult dogs eat 1 to 2 times a day, and the puppies eat 2 to 3 times a day to maintain healthy weight.

How do you keep your dogs in shape throughout the year?

We keep them in shape by keeping them on a scheduled and balanced diet with a minimum of 2 hours of exercise throughout the day.

Walk us through the process of purchasing a pup from Moreno Dudley Kennel from start to finish.

When we have someone interested in buying a pup, here is the process we go through:

  1. We offer a video call to show the available dogs. During the call we explain their pedigree and the need for a good amount of maintenance with this breed.
  2. Next, we talk pricing and what’s needed to secure a pup. We have an option where you can pay full price when you come pick up the pup or you can make weekly payments until the time you pick up the pup.
  3. After that transaction, we send over our contract to be signed. We let them know they can video call or ask for pictures and videos at any time until the pup is picked up.
  4. The pups get their first round of shots at 6 weeks then start potty training. When they’re ready to go home, we send them off with extra food, potty pads and a folder that includes their registration papers, shot records, and the purchase contract.

Do you currently show any of your dogs?

Currently, Moreno Dudley Kennel does not show due to the world being the way it is (COVID), but we’ll be out very soon.

What advice do you have for any upcoming breeders?

Please don’t get into breeding for a quick buck or think it’s a “get rich quick scheme” because it is not. Do it for the love of the breed. Do all of the research necessary and reach out to local breeders (if they’re willing to help). Remember, this is a lifestyle, so be prepared for the sacrifices, the losses, and heartache at times, but know it’s worth every bit of it in the end.

What do you think is the most difficult thing for people in the bully game to overcome?

I believe the most difficult thing in the game to overcome is losing a dog whether single pup or even whole litter. It’s not just about the money when it comes to these bulls. They’re amazing companions and one of the best non-aggressive breeds to have.

How do you think they can overcome this thing?

Proper care! You have to make sure you have the right equipment when you have a fresh litter. Your eyes need to be on the pups 24/7 because anything can happen in a quick second. You need to take your dogs to the vet at least twice a year to make sure they’re healthy. Feed them well and have them get the proper outdoor exercise.

Who do you look up to in the bully game, and why?

That’s a tough question. There’s so many big influencers in this bully game; I’d hate to leave any one person out.

Tell us about one of the main goals for Moreno Dudley Kennel in 2022.

Our main goal at Moreno Dudley Kennel is to create and bring the best functional, muscled-up, micro American bullies to the community. Just wait and see what we have in store for 2022. It’s going to be epic, I promise.

Describe how you would want things, in the bully breed Community, to be 10 years from now?

I would really love for every class of bully breeder to stick within the breed, and solely focus on bettering the breed.

What separates Moreno Dudley Kennel from the competition?

What separates us from the competition is that we believe in quality over quantity.

What other hobbies or interests do you take part in?

I have a tattoo shop outside of breeding, but when I’m not at my shop tattooing, these bulls are what consume me.

What do you think of Bully Girl Magazine?

I love what Bully Girl Magazine has going on. It’s really cool, and I'm glad to be a part of it.
