My name is Lamarr, owner of Keystone Blueprint Kennels, located outside of Philadelphia.
What type of dogs do you breed, and what inspired you to get involved with that particular breed?
I breed XL American Bullies, English Bulldogs and French bulldogs. I am most passionate about the XL American Bullies. Growing up, I always had Pit Bulls, but I found myself wanting the look of the Pit Bull but thicker and bigger. This led me to the XL American Bully.
What is your favorite bloodline?
I do not have one favorite bloodline. I am a huge fan of west coast bloodlines including: Blueline, XB, RBG, GK, RCP, Hattfield and ULP.
In your opinion, what are the characteristics of a responsible dog breeder?
A responsible dog breeder is someone who shows passion and love for the breed. Their main focus is the health and well being of the dogs.
What type of diet do you keep your dogs on throughout the year?
I feed my dogs a combination of high protein kibble and RAW.
How many times a day do you feed your dogs?
At Keystone Blueprint Kennels, our dogs get fed twice a day. Once in the morning with kibble, and once in the evening with RAW.
How do you keep your dogs in shape throughout the year?
I have a 3 acre property, so the dogs can run and play freely as much as they want.
Walk us through the process of purchasing a pup from Keystone Blueprint Kennels from start to finish.
Purchasing a pup from Keystone Blueprint Kennels is simple.
- Once I confirm the pregnancy I start to advertise the breeding.
- For anyone that reaches out and shows interest, I advise of the price I'm looking for.
- I then inform them once the delivery happens and I have a definite count of puppies and know the sexes.
- The people I choose to sell my dogs to are the ones who keep in contact the most and who I build a relationship with.
- Once the customer confirms the dog they want, I have them sign a contract and make a non-refundable security deposit of $500.
- Over the next 8-10 weeks, they have the ability to pay off the balance.
- Once paid in full, the dog can be picked up or transported. All of my dogs come health certified with their first set of shots.
Do you currently show any of your dogs?
Yes, I show my dogs in the ABKC shows. I have 2 Champion XL’s, a male (Champion King) and a female (Champion BPK Calabasa).
What advice does Keystone Blueprint Kennels have for any upcoming breeders?
My advice is to be prepared. There are a lot of wins and losses. Breeding involves a lot of work, time, dedication and money.
What do you think is the most difficult thing for people in the bully game to overcome?
The most difficult thing for people to overcome are the stereotypes of the bully breed.
How do you think they can overcome this thing?
Just keep breeding and showing the world just how great these dogs are.
Who do you look up to in the bully game, and why?
I look up to all of the people that have actually established and made a bloodline in the breed, not just a kennel name. Building and establishing a bloodline, creates a legacy.
Tell us about one of Keystone Blueprint Kennels main goals for 2021.
My main goal for 2021 is to make a champion dog.
Describe how you would want things, in the bully breed Community, to be 10 years from now.
I would love to see a more unified bully breed community.
What separates Keystone Blueprint Kennels from the competition?
What separates us, is that we are bringing some of the best bloodlines in the world together to make a bad ass dog.
What other hobbies or interests do you take part in?
I enjoy dirtbikes, quads and spending time with my kids.
