Dejohn Bully Pits: XL American Bully Breeder in Alabama

TheRealPit, also known as PIT, is the CEO of Dejohn Bully Pits, a kennel located in Gadsden, Alabama. PIT breeds XL American Bullies, a breed that originated from crossbreeding and selective breeding of American Pitbull Terriers. While not all of their breeding dogs are tested for genetic health conditions, some are tested through Embark and OFA. To socialize their puppies and prepare them for new homes, PIT gives the puppies lots of attention and petting to build trust and comfort with human contact. When asked about his favorite bloodline, PIT stated that he doesn't have a favorite, but rather admires certain lines for different qualities and uses them to create his own identity in his up and coming line.

PIT believes that a responsible dog breeder puts their dogs' health and well-being first, both physically and mentally. He feeds his dogs a combination of good kibble and raw food, with the specific brand and amount varying based on the individual dog's size, weight, and purpose. Most of PIT's dogs are free-fed, with the exception of those that live in the house. To keep his dogs in shape, PIT takes them on runs through the woods and also uses flirt poles, ropes, and balls for fetching.

If someone is interested in purchasing a puppy from Dejohn Bully Pits, PIT first tries to get to know them through social media to see if they are a good fit. If he decides to do business with them, he will help them choose a puppy and provide contracts and payment information through his secretary. Dejohn Bully Pits offers health guarantees and support for their puppies after they go to their new homes, including vet checks before the puppies leave and staying in touch with the owners to check on the puppies' well-being. PIT has shown his dogs in the past and is currently focusing more on that.

PIT's advice to upcoming breeders is to do it for the love of the breed, not for the money. He thinks the most difficult thing for people in the bully game is not accepting what others like in their bull breeds and thinking they know everything, and suggests they be more open-minded and willing to accept constructive criticism as an opinion rather than hate. PIT's main goal for 2023 is to produce high quality, healthy XL American Bullies with a new color trend he has been working on for a few years, and for his clients to have better dogs than the ones he owns on his own property.

In ten years, TheRealPit, also known as PIT, wants the bully breed community to be less watered down and for people to stop thinking they can get a quick buck from it. PIT's kennel, Dejohn Bully Pits, doesn't see other breeders as competition, but rather focuses on their own vision and program. PIT is naturally built for breeding and spends a lot of time thinking about his next move and the future of his dogs and puppies. In addition to breeding, PIT also enjoys music, travel, and fishing.

PIT views Bully Girl Magazine as a positive brand that is dedicated to providing information and promoting breeders within the community.
