Boston Bullies: American Bully Breeder in the UK

Boston Bullies: American Bully Breeder in the UK

State your name, your kennel, and where your kennel is located.

My name is Anton Boston. I am CEO and founder of Boston Bullies, located in Cardiff, in the UK.

What type of dogs do you breed, and what inspired you to get involved with that particular breed?

I breed pocket and standard American Bullies. I bred Staffs and Pit Bulls years before I discovered the American Bully, and always used to compare my dogs to the photos, which I now know are American Bullies.

On google, I was confused as to why my dogs didn’t look like that. Was it something I was not feeding my dogs?  After educating myself and doing as much research as I could, I finally found the American Bully and purchased my first one from Dynamights Kennels In 2015. From there I fell in love with the breed.

What is your favorite bloodline?

My favourite bloodline has to be Daxline. Daxline has produced many famous dogs, who’s blood I have throughout my yard. (i.e. Ch Magoo, Louis V, Cashpot & Phenom)

In your opinion, what are the characteristics of a responsible dog breeder?

In my opinion the characteristics of a responsible breeder are:

  1. Responsible breeders always try to improve and better the breed by making the next litter a step up from the previous one.
  2. Responsible breeders stand by their productions. If a problem ever arises, they do not shy away, but always rectify it and make sure the customer is happy.

What type of diet do you keep your dogs on throughout the year?

I feed my bullies a RAW diet (minced beef & chicken with ground bone, green tripe, chicken necks, sardines and day old baby chicks), mixed with kibble (AVA Veterinary Approved Sensitive Skin and Stomach).

How many times a day do you feed your dogs?

I feed my dogs twice a day. They get tripe, minced beef and chicken with ground bone and biscuits in the morning. Then treats (chicken necks, sardines and day old baby chicks) in the evening.

How do you keep your dogs in shape throughout the year?

I have a play area in my garden which my dogs have access to twice a day for 2 hours each interval and I also walk them for half hour a day 3 times a week And take it in turns to take them on a walk with down the beach or through the Forrest when I can.

Walk us through the process of purchasing a pup from your kennel from start to finish.

I keep my social media’s very well updated ( Instagram: @Boss_tonne_bullys - Facebook: Anton Boston & Boss Tonne Bullys).

  • a customer usually enquires about the desired pup or breeding via these platforms
  • I will then give them more information on the bloodline and a breakdown on the pup/dog they are enquiring about.
  • to secure this pup/dog, a 10% non-refundable deposit is required.
  • the customer will then collect the pup/dog at a mutually agreed date, by which the remaining outstanding balance must be cleared in full.
  • I will then keep in constant contact with the customer throughout their pups life. I usually become close friends with a lot of my customers.

Do you currently show any of your dogs?

Of course. I currently own 2 champion dogs. Dynamights Champion King Biggie and Dynamights Champion Inferno. My Boy Boston Bullies Bricktop was also due to make his ring debuts at the start of 2020 on his first birthday, but has been postponed due to Covid. However, when the restrictions are lifted, we will be hitting the shows up worldwide with all three of my boys, and many more of my up and comers.

What advice do you have for any upcoming breeders?

I would advise any up and coming breeders to thoroughly research the breed (bloodlines, breed standards, faults etc.) before jumping into it.

You get what you pay for! It’s the same with any type of business. You have to speculate to accumulate. Go to the best breeders, buy the best and breed to the best. If you are just looking to spend as little as possible to make as much as you can, then this isn’t the breed for you.

What do you think is the most difficult thing for people in the bully game to overcome?

From my experience in the dog game, people can be very two-faced and are full of jealousy. I hate to see people slagging each other's dogs.

How do you think they can overcome this thing?

Stay in your own lane, put your head down and work your ass off. Try not to get too drawn into the bullshit, and let your dogs and productions do the talking.

Who do you look up to in the bully game, and why?

I look up to all the founders of the breed, and originals who paved the way for the American Bully to be where it is today. The American Bully changed my life, so without them I would not be where I am today, and would still be trying to overfeed my Staffs, lol.

Tell us about one of your main goals for 2021.

My main goals for 2021 are:

  1. To reach Grand Champion status with Champion King Biggie
  2. To reach Grand Champion status with Champion Inferno
  3. To Champ out Bricktop
  4. To elevate my kennels and programme to new heights and continue to grow, expand and have many more satisfied customers/friends worldwide.

Describe how you would want things, in the bully breed Community, to be 10 years from now.

Ten years from now I would love to see a lot more champion dogs coming out of the U.K. I would like to see far more consistency in the breed, and the faults completely pushed out.

What separates your kennel from the competition?

Boston Bullies does not see any other kennel as competition. This is about my own passion for the American Bully. I always keep and breed from my own productions, and am always trying to better the breed. I’ve bought all my stock from the best, and have always bred to the best.

I have spent endless hours and money to acquire the knowledge I have today, and am always happy to share this with my customers and provide continued help and support throughout their pups life.

What other hobbies or interests do you take part in?

I have utilized the free time the lockdown has given me to be closer to my dogs. I enjoy the outdoors with my bullies, exploring and seeing new places which also helps me to keep fit. Also, I enjoy traveling, which I am most looking forward to continuing once the lockdown has been lifted.

What do you think of Bully Girl Magazine?

I love what you guys are doing over at Bully Girl Magazine. Bully Girl provides an amazing platform for the American Bully, and showcases the best Bully’s in the world.
