State your name, your kennel, and where your kennel is located.
My name is Stacey Loubert, and my kennel is called Stacey's Bullies located in Montreal, Canada.
What type of dogs do you breed, and what inspired you to get involved with that particular breed?
I've chosen pocket-size American bullies. I've had bully breeds in my life since I was a teen, and I love everything about them.
What is your favorite bloodline?
I love and respect a lot of bloodlines. My kennel is full of old-school Muscletone, but honestly, I don't think I have a favorite. There are a lot of beautiful dogs out there.
In your opinion, what are the characteristics of a responsible dog breeder?
To me, you have to be honest. The first thing I did was get my dogs’ health tested. You need to make the right decisions to not breed a dog that looks jacked up for the money. There should be more raw cell pictures and no photoshop.
What type of diet do you keep your dogs on throughout the year?
I feed my pups Acana. I just started feeding them raw food twice a week.
How many times a day do you feed your dogs?
I feed the dogs twice a day with snacks in-between.
How do you keep your dogs in shape throughout the year?
The dogs are kept in shape with walks, playing, and tractor tires. I have the tires all over the dog run, and they love to jump on those. The dogs also swim a bit. My pups are fairly young though, so I don’t want to push too hard.
Walk us through the process of purchasing a pup from Staceys Bullies from start to finish.
Purchasing a puppy from Stacey’s Bullies looks a little like this:
- Puppy picks will only be made after the pups are 6 - 7 weeks old.
- At that time, we take deposits for placement and send a profile page to have the new client fill out.
- We do all of the deworming: first vaccines at 6 weeks, and second at 8 weeks. I want to make sure my pups are healthy before leaving my place.
- After their first shots, if the family lives nearby, they can visit and spend time with their pup.
- I don't let my pups go until they are between 10 and 12 weeks old to make sure that I can see their personality and match the pups to the right people.
- Pups come fully vetted with a microchip, GPS collar tag for your phone (only for people with iPhone for now), one month of insurance, and a puppy pack.
Do you currently show any of your dogs?
Sadly, no. There aren’t any shows in my area, especially since COVID. I’m still trying to convince my niece to get into dog handling so I can send my pups to her in the States
What advice does Staceys Bullies have for any upcoming breeders?
Don't believe the hype; if it's too good to be true, it probably isn't what the seller is saying. Research before getting into this industry. Ask for videos, not pictures when purchasing your pups. I learned that the hard way.
What do you think is the most difficult thing for people in the bully game to overcome?
The term “kennel blind” comes to mind.
How do you think they can overcome this thing?
People just need to be honest with themselves and others.
Who do you look up to in the bully game, and why?
A couple of names that come to mind are Alex Ferraro and Nan Bai. I love their vision and views. The way they value the breed and are consistent to the standard is fantastic. I also want to add Khanh Nguyen to my list. He said a few words that resonate with me, “These dogs are assets and should be treated as such.” SImply amazing.
Tell us about one of Staceys Bullies main goals for 2022.
I want happy, healthy pups, and happy families. I also want to host some events for my fellow bully breeders in my area.
Describe how you would want things, in the bully breed Community, to be 10 years from now.
So far I see a lot of hate between camps. It's sad that there are so few that want to work together. What would be great is more unity and less hate; more honesty, less lies.
What separates Staceys Bullies from the competition?
I did and still do a lot of health testing right out of the gate. My pets will always be treated with respect for what they do for me and my family.
What other hobbies or interests do you take part in?
I ride my horses, and I do some liberty training. I have a small farm with rescued livestock where I currently have about 35 animals in my care from horses of all sizes, goats, a pig, and chickens. I think it’s safe to say animals are my passion.
What do you think of Bully Girl Magazine?
I love Bully Girl Magazine! It has lots of information about all sizes of bullies and other breeders. Bully Girl Magazine is my go-to bully place.
