Golden House Kennel: American Bully and Cane Corso Breeder in Portugal
Meet Diogo da Silva, the owner of Golden House Kennel, located in Torres Vedras, Portugal. He specializes in breeding American bully, Cane Corso, and soon, Boerboel. When asked about his inspiration for breeding these particular breeds, he mentions that their physical appearance, size, and friendly and loyal character caught his attention.
To ensure the genetic health of his breeding dogs, Diogo tests them for dysplasia and plans to test them for blood levels in the near future. He also emphasizes the importance of socializing his puppies, playing music, and using obstacle courses to prepare them for their new homes.
When it comes to favorite bloodlines, Diogo admires Muscletones and Dax in American bully and Anderson Hulk in Boerboel. He believes a responsible dog breeder should have a clear objective, be humble and transparent, and breed with line, blood, or character in mind.
Diogo feeds his dogs dry food every other day and natural food, including poultry, beef, pork, raw eggs, natural yogurt, chicken legs, wings, fish oil, fish flour, and some legumes, every other day. He uses Arion dog food and feeds his dogs two to three times a day until they reach 18 months, after which they are fed once a day. He keeps his dogs in shape by taking them on daily walks, allowing them to play freely, and providing them with good food.
The process of purchasing a pup from Golden House Kennel starts with discussing the breed, character, and care. Once a choice is made, photos and videos are sent regularly to help prepare the puppy for socialization. Diogo offers health guarantees and support for his puppies after they leave the kennel.
Although Diogo doesn't currently show any of his dogs, he admires the work of other breeders and encourages upcoming breeders to research well, respect the breed, and be honest and loyal. He acknowledges the difficulty of breeding for homogeneity in American bully and believes it can be overcome with time and effort.
In 2023, Diogo's main goal is to successfully crossbreed his dogs, which he sees as crucial for his kennel's breeding program. Looking ahead ten years, he hopes the bully breed community will continue to grow with love, care, and dedication to the breed.
When asked about his hobbies and interests outside of breeding dogs, Diogo reveals he enjoys taking his dogs to the beach, going on 4x4 trips, and working out. He also praises Bully Girl Magazine for their contribution to the culture and ideas in the bully world.
What sets Golden House Kennel apart from the competition? According to Diogo, it's the commitment to self-improvement and the understanding that everyone is in the bully game for fun, not just competition.
